About the position

The District Utility position is a full-time role within the Operations Department, set to commence in the 2024/2025 school year. This position is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the district's facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing general cleaning and maintenance tasks, ensuring that all areas are kept in optimal condition. The role requires the operation of various types of equipment, including commercial vacuum cleaners, stripping and buffing machines, and vehicle-mounted snow removal equipment. Additionally, the position involves using hand equipment and power tools to carry out maintenance tasks effectively. In this role, the District Utility worker will also be expected to perform substitutions for head custodians and building utilities as needed. This may include assisting district mechanics with repairs and maintenance tasks, showcasing a collaborative approach to facility management. The position demands a proactive attitude towards maintenance and a willingness to take on various responsibilities as assigned by supervisors. The working hours for this position are from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, providing a structured schedule for the employee.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning and maintenance tasks in district facilities.
• Operate various pieces of equipment including commercial vacuum cleaners and stripping/buffing machines.
• Use vehicle-mounted snow removal equipment as needed.
• Perform head custodian and building utility substitutions as requested.
• Assist district mechanics with repairs and maintenance tasks.

Requirements

• Aptitude for mechanical ability and equipment repairs.
