About the position

The District Wide Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing students with appropriate learning activities, instruction, and supervision by implementing lesson plans as directed by the absent teacher or other responsible staff. This role is essential in maintaining continuity in the classroom and supporting the educational mission of the South San Antonio Independent School District.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the absent teacher or designated staff.
• Use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.
• Work cooperatively with teachers to modify curriculum for students as needed or noted in lesson plans.
• Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the campus and school district.
• Submit attendance reports and maintain a clean and orderly classroom.
• Manage student behavior in accordance with the lesson plans, Student Code of Conduct, and student handbook.
• Supervise students at all times and take necessary precautions to protect students and materials.
• Communicate in a friendly and positive manner towards students, parents, staff, and administrators.
• Participate in substitute training and activities to improve job-related skills.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Some college hours or an associate degree
• Knowledge of core academic subjects
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Experience managing groups of students and providing instruction or related work experience

Benefits

• Part-time position with pay ranging from $100 to $120 a day
