About the position

Distru is seeking a dynamic and experienced People Operations Manager to join our fully remote and global team. This position is critical in ensuring that we attract and retain the best talent in the cannabis industry. As the #1 ERP in the cannabis sector, our software platform streamlines the supply chain for cannabis brands and distributors across the United States. The People Operations Manager will play a key role in improving and building out core people processes to enhance the employee experience throughout the entire lifecycle. This includes overseeing payroll and benefits administration, managing hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes, and facilitating performance management and development while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. In this role, you will be involved in a variety of activities from a people operations generalist perspective. You will refine and facilitate the Employee Orientation Program, assess training and development needs, and collaborate with department heads to ensure that training programs meet the specific needs of their teams. Additionally, you will assist managers in developing workplace expectations, addressing performance issues, and preparing corrective action documents. You will also design and implement programs for performance management, succession planning, and career pathing. The People Operations Manager will be responsible for talent acquisition, reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and maintaining relationships with external recruitment partners. General HR responsibilities will include ensuring that HR policies and procedures are upheld, calculating payroll commissions and bonuses, and leading the development of scalable and efficient people operations processes. This role requires a proactive approach to managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work independently without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Refine and facilitate the Employee Orientation Program.
  • Identify and assess the training and development needs of employees across the organization.
  • Work with department heads and managers to ensure training programs meet specific team needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of employees in development programs and provide feedback and support as needed.
  • Assist managers in developing workplace and job expectations and addressing performance issues of employees.
  • Prepare and review formal corrective action documents, including performance improvement plans.
  • Design and implement programs for performance management, succession planning, learning and development, and career pathing.
  • Assess management training needs and create customized programs to address skill gaps and support career growth.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of management programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, and make necessary improvements.
  • Review applications and interview candidates for talent acquisition.
  • Maintain contacts with external parties like part-time recruiters and staffing agencies.
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are maintained at all times.
  • Calculate and add to payroll commissions and bonuses monthly.
  • Execute key processes throughout the employee lifecycle, including terminations and I-9 verification.
  • Develop and implement scalable, efficient people operations processes.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in leading people operations or similar positions.
  • Experience in a startup and building structures from scratch is a plus.
  • Expertise in at least one of the areas of responsibility outlined above.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage workload and deadlines without constant supervision.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
