About the position

The Division IT Manager for Division 9 at MIT Lincoln Laboratory is responsible for overseeing the IT resources that support over 450 staff members across various groups. This role involves strategic planning, operational management, human resource management, financial management, and technology management to ensure the effective delivery of IT services in both classified and unclassified environments. The manager will work closely with other departments and be a key member of the Division management team, contributing to the overall IT strategy and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the infrastructure strategy and service delivery standards across the Division's IT enterprise.
  • Participate in overall Laboratory IT and IT Security strategy planning activities.
  • Establish measurable IT goals aligned with Division and Laboratory goals.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies and best practices across all classifications and operating environments.
  • Engage with ISD and SSD peers to maintain appropriate IT controls for infrastructure administration.
  • Research and recommend actions to prevent problems and maintain high service levels.
  • Maintain robust operations and availability of the Division's classified IT infrastructure.
  • Provide motivational leadership for direct reports, including resource planning and performance development.
  • Execute or consult on all Division IT purchases to ensure effective operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry standards and trends regarding IT technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with large scale infrastructures and strong technical knowledge of operating systems and networks.
  • Excellent business understanding related to organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language to various stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership with a track record of career accomplishments.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with DoD- and federal government-related infrastructure and security requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree or other advanced degree in information technology or related field.
  • Experience with DoD-related infrastructure and security.
  • 10+ years of information services experience in a similar organization size and complexity.
  • 6+ years of experience in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in conducting research into IT issues and products.
  • Extensive application support experience.
