About the position

The Division Budget Analyst position at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is responsible for managing and analyzing budgets for various programs and grants within the Prevention Services Division. This role involves tracking, monitoring, and reporting on financial resources, ensuring accuracy in accounting entries, and providing fiscal recommendations to support the division's goals. The position aims to improve public health outcomes in Colorado by effectively managing financial resources and collaborating with program management.

Responsibilities

• Help budget, track, monitor, report, and manage all monies assigned to a branch's program or grant.
• Process and reconcile accounting entries to ensure budgets, encumbrances, and expenses are accurate.
• Develop skills under guidance from the Fiscal Unit Manager and experienced Budget Analysts.
• Evaluate program needs compared with current funding levels and advise program management on balancing available resources.
• Provide budgetary and financial support to all levels of division management.
• Assist with budget analysis to support CDPHE's central budget office submission.

Requirements

• Four (4) years of relevant experience in budget analysis, budget development, and implementation.
• Graduation from an accredited college or university in accounting, business, finance, public administration, or a closely related field.
• Experience with policy development and implementation.
