About the position

The Division Budget Analyst position at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment involves managing and analyzing budgets for various programs and grants within the Prevention Services Division. The role requires collaboration with division management to ensure financial resources are effectively allocated to meet programmatic needs, while also providing fiscal recommendations and support for budget submissions to state authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Help budget, track, monitor, report, and manage all monies assigned to a branch's program or grant.
  • Process and reconcile accounting entries to ensure budgets, encumbrances, and expenses are accurate.
  • Develop skills under guidance from the Fiscal Unit Manager and experienced Budget Analysts.
  • Evaluate program needs compared with current funding levels and advise program management on balancing available resources.
  • Assist with budget analysis to support the CDPHE's central budget office submission to the Office of State Planning and Budgeting and Joint Budget Committee.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of relevant experience in budget analysis, budget development and implementation, along with exposure to policy development and implementation.
  • A combination of related education and experience equivalent to four (4) years in budget analysis, budget development and implementation.
