About the position

The Chief of the Division of Blood and Vascular Disorders at Penn State Health will lead a growing division focused on inherited disorders of hemostasis, thrombosis, and sickle cell disease. This role requires a strong leader with a background in academic medicine, clinical expertise, and a commitment to diversity and mentorship. The Chief will oversee teaching, research, and clinical activities, manage financial resources, and develop a strategic vision for the division.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Division of Blood and Vascular Disorders, overseeing teaching, research, and clinical activities.
  • Manage the division's financial resources and develop budgets aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop faculty to enhance academic excellence and diversity.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in the Cancer Institute and Department of Medicine to ensure optimal patient care and training.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the division, focusing on bleeding and clotting disorders and Sickle Cell Disease.

Requirements

  • MD or MD/PhD with board certification in Hematology.
  • Demonstrated success in obtaining extramural funding as a physician/scientist.
  • Progressive administrative and operational experience in an academic medical center setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and delegate authority within a complex environment.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion in academic medicine.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing hematology fellowship programs.
  • Strong acumen in managing financial resources and budgets.
