About the position

The Department of Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking a physician leader to serve as the Divisional Chief of Cardiology. This role involves overseeing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient cardiac care, implementing and growing advanced cardiac programs, and ensuring high-quality patient care and education within the division.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and retain clinical and research faculty within the Division of Cardiology.
  • Oversee quality and safety initiatives, leading clinical excellence.
  • Develop and implement training curriculum for medical students, residency, and fellowship programs.
  • Provide mentoring, educational opportunities, and professional development for faculty.
  • Ensure effective communication among division members and within the Department of Medicine.
  • Cultivate philanthropy for the division.
  • Manage financial and physical resources effectively within the Division of Cardiology.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
  • Board certification in Cardiovascular Medicine with ongoing clinical and scholarly activities.
  • Fellowship trained in Cardiology or an ACGME Accredited Subspecialty Fellowship.
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State prior to the start of appointment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in MBA, MPH, or MHA preferred.
