About the position

Lexicon, Inc. is seeking a Division Controller to oversee the financial activities of one of its subsidiaries. This role is critical in directing the accounting functions and systems for the division, which includes managing accounts payables, accounts receivable, payroll, and equipment control. The Division Controller will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, and analyzing accurate financial reporting to ensure the financial health of the division. This position requires a proactive approach to the continued development of tools that enhance the accuracy of the bid process and project management. Additionally, the Division Controller will analyze various business activities, including project evaluations and potential projects, and will perform special projects as assigned by upper management. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, as this role requires supervising a team and ensuring that all accounting functions are executed efficiently and accurately. The ability to work overtime and maintain regular, punctual attendance is essential, as the role may demand long hours and weekend work as needed. The Division Controller will also need to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, as they will be required to make independent judgments and decisions that impact the division's financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the accounting functions and systems for the division including accounts payables, accounts receivable, payroll, and equipment control.
  • Prepare, maintain, and analyze accurate financial reporting.
  • Develop tools to ensure accuracy of the bid process and project management.
  • Analyze various business activities including project evaluation and potential projects.
  • Perform special projects for upper management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in managerial Accounting/Auditing.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Excellent oral/written communications skills.
  • Ability to make independent judgments and decisions.
