About the position

The Divisional Controller at Mechanical Dynamics and Analysis, LLC is responsible for leading the finance and accounting operations of the Repairs Division at the St. Louis facility. This role involves overseeing all accounting activities, developing and maintaining accounting policies, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and managing the finance team. The position requires collaboration with the Repairs Division Vice President and Operations Leaders to strategize and drive business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
  • Work closely with the Repairs Division VP and Operations Leaders on strategies and opportunities to grow the business
  • Lead the month-end close process
  • Monitor unreconciled balances and communicate with the accounting team on clearing outstanding positions
  • Support job costing setup and job closing in the ERP system
  • Perform high level analysis of job costs to assist in bidding process
  • Analyze job margins, as bid vs as executed
  • Work directly with Operations team to forecast production hours and overhead positions
  • Review customer invoicing and manage milestone billing
  • Provide the accounts payable team with GR/IR support, control open PO's
  • Oversee time capture for job costing accuracy and overall controllership of labor time reporting
  • Prepare annual budgets
  • Assist with revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
  • Identify risks and areas for improvement in internal processes and controls
  • Implement and utilize technology tools to create efficiencies and data accuracy

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' experience, 10 years' experience preferred
  • Proven track record of leading & managing a team
  • Experience working in multi-location environments with colleagues in different locations; cities/states/countries
  • Inventory, Manufacturing and Job Costing accounting experience
  • Self-identifies areas of need and takes initiative
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables & V- Lookups) and PowerPoint
  • Experience using an ERP system such as Epicor or SAP
  • Familiarity with BlackLine, Power BI, Concur
