About the position

The Divisional Controller is a pivotal role within the Teal Jones Group, located in Plain Dealing, Louisiana. This position is integral to the management team, tasked with overseeing the financial performance of the division. The Divisional Controller will provide essential financial analysis and guidance to the General Manager, ensuring that the division meets its financial objectives and operates efficiently. This role requires a deep understanding of financial principles and the ability to apply them strategically to support the division's goals. In this capacity, the Divisional Controller will analyze financial reports to determine cash flow forecasts and develop innovative financial strategies aimed at achieving revenue goals. The position involves evaluating financial performance through the generation of profit and loss statements, proposing various financial options to support business objectives, and identifying financial risks while developing appropriate action plans to mitigate them. The role also includes negotiating financial terms and conditions with customers, ensuring that the division's interests are well-represented. Additionally, the Divisional Controller will account for log procurement, performing financial analyses on the cost and adequacy of log supply, and providing support to the sales team regarding the profitability of various cutting programs. The position requires active participation in budget preparation and expense management activities, coordinating with management on financial analysis and planning operations. Timely and accurate generation of financial reports for management is crucial, as is maintaining accounting control parameters and recommending improvements to current control procedures. The Divisional Controller will also work closely with auditors during financial audits and provide guidance to financial staff as needed. Month-end reconciliation and account closing processes are part of the responsibilities, along with participation in team meetings to discuss financial results and issues. This role may also require travel to other US divisions as needed, making flexibility and adaptability key traits for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial reports, determine cash flow forecast and develop new financial strategies to achieve revenue goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, team building and negotiations skills.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of discretion and judgment.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and act as a facilitator.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability in financial analysis.
  • Strong organizational skills with the desire to accept the challenge of working in continually changing internal and external business conditions.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
