About the position

The Division Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the daily operations of the Transportation Department at Metro. This role involves managing staff schedules, performance, payroll, and attendance, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and achieving departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The Division Manager will also oversee employee development and maintain a positive work environment that promotes diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead, motivate, and direct staff.
  • Prepare and approve time, audit operator payroll discrepancies, manage discipline, execute employee recognition/commendations, and respond to grievances.
  • Supervise employee performance, allocate employee assignments, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Manage databases detailing service activities, employee schedules, and personnel records.
  • Meet with Union representatives to discuss and resolve employee labor concerns.
  • Ensure achievement of the department's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Safety, Customer Service, On-Time Performance, Customer Complaints, and Operator Attendance.
  • Establish and implement departmental policies and procedures.
  • Determine staffing levels and conduct interviews for Bus Operator, Clerk, and Vault Puller vacancies as needed.
  • Respond to operational service issues as needed.
  • Manage Operators'/Clerks' attendance and daily work assignments to assure sufficient staffing to meet service needs.
  • Monitor supervisor and clerk performance and attendance.
  • Facilitate development strategies to meet or exceed organizational performance goals.
  • Oversee development of Operations employees through training and promotional opportunities.
  • Model and encourage exemplary customer service and open communication.
  • Work in compliance with Metro's safety and security policies.
  • Provide a positive work environment free from discrimination.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.
  • 5 years operations experience preferred.
  • 5 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current CDL with appropriate endorsements preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of transit operations systems, policies, and procedures preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in Microsoft Office suite.
