About the position

The Division Merchandise Manager at Sportsman's Warehouse is responsible for leading multiple categories and category teams to achieve both short- and long-term business objectives. This role involves providing strategic direction and merchandising leadership, collaborating with suppliers to develop assortments that align with customer needs, and managing a team to optimize business performance through effective category management processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop category strategies and drive annual assortment planning.
• Build executional plans based on insights and vendor negotiations.
• Manage and mentor a team of category managers, buyers, and data specialists.
• Lead the category review and planning process using customer data and insights.
• Optimize performance around key business metrics including sales, profit, and share.
• Curate assortments utilizing consumer insights and regional trends.
• Partner with E-Commerce and Marketing teams for an Omni-Channel experience.
• Optimize sales and profit through pricing and promotional effectiveness.
• Manage KPIs to deliver sustainable long-term results.
• Lead vendor relationships and joint business planning for strategic vendors.
• Negotiate COGS reductions with vendors.
• Partner with retail operations to ensure merchandising program success.
• Develop procedures to maintain inventory levels for marketing events.
• Build cross-functional relationships across divisions.

Requirements

• 6 or more years of relevant strategy and merchandising leadership experience.
• Experience creating merchandising plans for categories, including customer analysis and market evaluation.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage staff.
• At least 5 years' experience negotiating with outside vendors.
• Experience conducting analysis for market potential evaluation, pricing, and promotions.
• Experience developing strategic initiatives aligned with business goals and budget.
• Experience coordinating executive management meetings.
• At least 5 years' experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
• At least 2 years' experience of direct leadership and cross-functional team leadership.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• At least 5 years' of category experience/expertise.
