About the position

D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder in the U.S., is seeking a Division Paralegal for their Legal Department. This role is crucial for managing legal and accounting responsibilities within the Acquisition Department, as well as providing support and coordination for both the Acquisition and Development Departments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of legal processes related to land acquisition and development projects. The Division Paralegal will prepare and draft contracts and amendments as necessary, including Homeowners Association (HOA) covenants, conditions, easements, and restrictions. They will also prepare summaries of purchase and sale agreements for distribution among team members, manage the corporate contract package, and process earnest money. Additionally, the paralegal will handle the preparation and processing of the Notice of Sale (NOS) package and manage land/lot takedown closings. In this role, the paralegal will submit weekly funding requests, prepare and update weekly contract status reports, and generate monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports on land/lot acquisition and funding. They will support the development department with project management tasks, prepare easements, and review various documents such as title reports, environmental assessments, surveys, and site plans. The position also involves maintaining contact with sellers and brokers, conducting research on various legal issues as requested by local counsel, and managing a wide variety of contracts and projects. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to contribute to a dynamic team without the pressures of managing others.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Three to six years related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
