About the position

MileOne Autogroup is seeking a Division Controller to oversee the accounting practices of BMW of Fort Washington and Mercedes Benz of Fort Washington. This position is located onsite and requires a candidate with automotive dealership experience and familiarity with Reynolds DMS. The Division Controller will play a crucial role in managing the accounting activities of the division, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data across all dealership departments. This role demands discretion and independent judgment in processing financial information, which is vital for assessing the financial health of the business. The Division Controller will also identify areas for improvement in cash flow and profitability, providing timely and accurate reports to senior management. The primary responsibilities include managing the hiring, training, and oversight of all accounting personnel within the division, which supports two luxury dealerships generating over $300 million in annual revenue. The Division Controller will strive to enhance data integrity and reporting processes, supervise the preparation and submission of monthly financial statements in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, and review accounting schedules to ensure the accuracy of general ledger accounts and manufacturer accounts. Additionally, the role involves reconciling general ledger accounts, interpreting financial statements, and participating in the preparation of financial forecasts. The Division Controller will also supervise the preparation of information for outside auditors and tax preparers to ensure accuracy and minimize costs.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for hiring, training and management of all accounting personnel working with 2 luxury dealerships generating over $300 Million in annual revenue.
• Continually strives to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the division.
• Supervises timely preparation and submission of monthly financial statements prepared in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Reviews accounting schedules and ensures that all general ledger accounts and manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection, and co-op advertising are current and accurate.
• Reviews reconciliations of general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, reserve accounts, factory payables, and floor plan payables, and verifies accuracy of reconciliations with outside sources.
• Interprets financial statements and daily operating control (DOC) reports regularly and informs senior management of developing trends.
• Participates in the preparation of short-term and long-term financial forecasts for the division.
• Supervises the preparation of all information provided to outside auditors and tax preparers to ensure accuracy of information provided and minimize costs.

Requirements

• +5 years of related automotive accounting experience and/or training
• +3 years of management experience overseeing a team of accounting professionals
• +3 years of Reynolds DMS experience
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Proficiency with MS Office and related software products
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with dealership operating teams.
