About the position

The Divisional Director of Field Development at The Salvation Army Central Territory is responsible for serving as a development consultant to the Kansas and Western Missouri Division Units. This role focuses on major giving, advisory board development, and fundraising strategies, partnering with various stakeholders to enhance the financial support for Corps communities. The position requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively while supporting the mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Assist KWM Corps with major giving development and capital campaign needs.
  • Identify and track top donors in each Corps community.
  • Work with Corps officers and advisory board members to create fundraising plans for major donors.
  • Assist with Corps Christmas activities, including kettle strategy and recruitment of campaign chairs.
  • Develop advisory boards as a key component of the major giving strategic plan.
  • Consult with Area Command Corps advisory councils in partnership with development leadership.
  • Identify planned giving prospects in collaboration with DHQ Planned Giving staff.
  • Coordinate major giving prospect lists with Donor Relations Directors.
  • Supervise divisional grants writer and identify grant opportunities.
  • Provide comprehensive reports for the Divisional Commander and Executive Director of Development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or similar fields.
  • Minimum seven years of relevant management experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Management experience in the non-profit sector.
  • Experience with governing and/or advisory board relations preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience in non-profit strategic planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (Salesforce, Tableau).
  • Strong administrative skills including data entry and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with strong independent judgment.
  • Effective interpersonal, conversational, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fundraising for non-profit organizations.
  • Knowledge of donor relations and major giving strategies.
