About the position

The Divisional Financial Administrative Officer at the University of California Riverside will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial, personnel, student affairs, administrative, and research support infrastructure operations across various departments within the College of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS). Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Administrative Officer (CFAO) and Assistant Dean, this position is integral to the strategic management of financial resources and administrative functions within the college. The officer will be responsible for aiding in post-awards finance administration, providing strategic support to Department Chairs, and coordinating space planning initiatives for the college. In the inaugural year, the Divisional Financial Administrative Officer will assist in transitioning financial matters for graduate student affairs from UCR's Graduate Division to CHASS, ensuring a smooth and efficient transfer of responsibilities. This role will also involve additional leadership and oversight of specific departments and the Financial Administrative Officer within CHASS, making it essential for the candidate to possess strong management skills and a comprehensive understanding of financial operations in an academic setting. The position offers a competitive salary range of $96,700 to $184,100 annually, with an expected pay scale of up to $150,000. Salary offers will be based on various considerations, including education, licensure, certifications, experience, and organizational needs. As a university employee, compliance with all applicable University policies and collective bargaining agreements is mandatory, and applicants must have current work authorization upon acceptance of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial, personnel, student affairs, administrative, and research support operations across various departments within CHASS.
  • Aid in post-awards finance administration and provide strategic support to Department Chairs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 8 - 13 years of related experience in financial administration.
  • Broad knowledge of budget, account and fund management, and personnel management under labor contracts.
  • Experience with financial analysis and reporting techniques, human resources, and risk management planning.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence and persuade all levels of staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related area.
  • Previous supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Experience with Contracts & Grants Administration.
