About the position

The Divisional Financial Analyst at Alliant Insurance Services is responsible for providing analytical support to the operating group leadership and Employee Benefit Finance management team. This role involves management reporting, financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and process improvement, contributing to the overall financial health and strategic initiatives of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Provides analytical support to assigned operating group(s) and acts as a liaison between Divisional Finance and other operational departments.
  • Analyzes and interprets financial results, comparing actual performance to prior periods, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Prepares timely, accurate, and relevant ad hoc and standard management reporting.
  • Constructs basic to moderately complex financial models to analyze the impact of current and proposed company initiatives.
  • Assists with the forecasting and budgeting processes for assigned operating group(s).
  • Maintains planning templates and reports, helps to construct revenue and expense plans, and identifies and analyzes variances.
  • Organizes and analyzes large quantities of data and performs data reconciliations to ensure accuracy of work products.
  • Identifies and interprets patterns and outliers in the data set.
  • Provides data for RFPs, corporate reports, and other special projects as requested by management.
  • Helps to maintain financial systems, databases, and queries used for analysis.
  • Proactively identifies areas for process improvement; displays natural curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Completes special projects as assigned to support corporate objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Mathematics, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience; experience in an FP&A role preferred.
  • PowerBI Experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent assignments and complete work by required due dates.
  • Commitment to providing world-class customer service.
  • Highly proactive; actively seeks opportunities for process improvement.
  • Ability to interact professionally with employees across all levels of the organization.
  • Works independently with moderate supervision and as a member of a team.
  • Strong mathematical ability.
  • Technical understanding of data structure, data mining and reporting processes.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of financial statements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills including vlookups, pivot tables, and conditional formulas.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in an FP&A role preferred.
  • PowerBI Experience preferred.
