About the position

The Divisional Merchandise Manager is responsible for leading and developing teams within the Merchandising department to create and deliver competitive programs and products for members. This role focuses on vendor relations, product promotions, pricing strategies, and ensuring that the teams are aligned with the company's goals of innovation and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct teams within Merchandising to develop member programs and products.
  • Strategic planning and budgeting for assigned merchandise departments.
  • Develop sales strategies for departments and product categories.
  • Create product assortment strategies for departments and product categories.
  • Negotiate and develop programs with vendors.
  • Manage, direct, and develop staff to achieve performance targets.
  • Oversee supplier selection and negotiations.
  • Guide pricing calculations and landed costs.
  • Provide oversight on product assortments, including private-label and promotional items.
  • Manage market programs and member communications.
  • Participate in special projects and set objectives with target completion dates.
  • Assume a leadership role in the Division and the Company.
  • Develop annual sales, gross profit, and stock turn goals for departments.

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree in business or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of business experience, ideally with a purchasing focus.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access).
  • Experience in the Home Improvement industry.
  • 2-5 years of management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Retail experience.
  • Experience in retail financial planning and assortment planning.
  • International or global sourcing experience, including foreign supplier visits.
  • National perspective experience.
