About the position

The Divisional/Plant Controller role at Robert Half is a contract opportunity focused on managing accounting operations within the Machinery Manufacturing industry. The position involves overseeing the production of financial reports, maintaining accounting records, and implementing controls and budgets to ensure financial integrity and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure suitable for achieving the department's objectives
  • Ensuring the production of timely and accurate financial reports
  • Preparing annual budgets and updating forecasts to accurately project revenues, expenses, and cash flow
  • Analyzing budget and/or forecast variances and communicating significant issues promptly
  • Establishing and regularly reviewing inventory costs
  • Providing financial analyses as needed for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts
  • Ensuring the timely payment of accounts payable and prompt collection of accounts receivable
  • Maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Implementing a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Coordinating the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is necessary.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent leadership qualities, capable of managing and motivating a team to achieve set objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with senior management to influence company financial policy and strategic direction.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information in an understandable manner.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
