About the position

The Divisional Senior HR Generalist plays a crucial role in partnering with management and staff to provide high-level consultative advice aimed at optimizing employee relations and supporting recruitment efforts. This position serves as an employee advocate, objectively investigating employee relations matters while maintaining a strong knowledge of employment law, legislative changes, and legal trends that impact Human Resources and the organization. The Senior HR Generalist is responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to all relevant employment laws and regulations, thereby fostering a compliant and supportive workplace environment. In this role, the Senior HR Generalist will provide employee relations support for various needs, including organizational development, performance management, coaching and counseling, and separations. They will investigate reported incidents, make recommendations and conclusions, and draft responses to external third parties when necessary, collaborating closely with legal counsel. Additionally, the Senior HR Generalist will program manage the legal aspects of the hiring and background screening process, serving as the primary contact for third-party vendors involved in these processes. The position also involves facilitating management compliance with company hiring and employee relations protocols, providing HR support during acquisition integration, and tracking and managing employee relations data for presentation and trend analysis purposes. During peak recruiting periods, the Senior HR Generalist will assist in generating offers of employment and participate in backup activities involving job requisitions, sourcing, and college internship programs. Furthermore, they will provide consultation and support to other human resource team members administering leaves of absence and manage the secondary stage of workers' compensation, which includes overseeing the return-to-work program, analyzing reports, researching claims, and corresponding with insurance providers and employees. The Senior HR Generalist will also provide high-level benefits administration support, conduct annual open enrollment meetings, respond to inquiries for outsourced unemployment administrators, and attend hearings as necessary. They will track and report department employee relations metrics and perform other duties as assigned, ensuring that the HR function operates smoothly and effectively within the organization.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six (6) or more years related work experience; HR Generalist experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to easily communicate with members of senior management.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to work within a team and to foster teamwork.
  • Good problem solving and time management skills.
  • Good planning, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to successfully mediate and resolve conflict.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
