About the position

The DJJ Operations Coordinator is responsible for managing multi-disciplinary case conferences and placement planning for youth recommended for commitment to the Department of Juvenile Justice in the Northwest Region of Florida. This role involves coordinating placement planning, ensuring compliance with state regulations, utilizing the Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS) for data analysis, and providing training and technical assistance to staff. The position also includes conducting investigations related to program incidents and developing corrective action plans.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts multi-disciplinary case conferences and placement planning for youth recommended for commitment to the Department.
  • Responsible for coordinating placement planning within existing commitment resources and ensuring all appropriate data is entered into the Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS).
  • Ensures compliance with state regulations regarding multi-disciplinary case conferences and placement planning for committed youth, including transfer staffing.
  • Utilizes the JJIS to assess program performance, evaluate trend data, and develop appropriate management strategies.
  • Coordinates Regional activities required to reduce the number of committed youths awaiting placement and visits regional commitment programs.
  • Travels to contracted provider programs within the North Region.
  • Trains and provides technical assistance to other region staff in the areas relating to the commitment and placement planning process.
  • Assists with conducting investigations of program incidents, including youth/staff/witness interviews, video reviews, and documentation reviews.
  • Reports findings on allegations, youth safety, and staff remaining in contact with youth, making recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Provides written reports of initial assessments and develops corrective action plans for identified deficiencies.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of methods of data collection and analysis; basic management principles and practices.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills, collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations and solve problems.
  • Ability to document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience in systems analysis, management analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, engineering or administrative work.
  • A master's degree from a college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • 3-5 years' experience working with delinquent youth in the juvenile justice system either in the community, residential programs or program support and oversight.
  • Experience conducting investigations, program reviews, and program monitoring and making recommendations based on findings.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
