About the position
The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the order processing, billing, and collections for a pharmacy/DME company. This role requires proficiency in the medical claims process, including eligibility verification, authorizations, and negotiations with insurance carriers. The specialist will also track Key Performance Indicators, create reports, and improve processes to enhance the efficiency of accounts receivable collections.
Responsibilities
- Conduct order processing for durable medical equipment.
- Manage billing and collections for medical claims.
- Call for eligibility and authorizations as needed.
- Re-submit denied claims and negotiate with insurance carriers.
- Follow up on non-paid and underpaid claims.
- Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to billing and collections.
- Create reporting and analytics to assess performance.
- Improve processes to maximize efficiency in accounts receivable.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of Medical Billing and Collections Management experience.
- Proficient in medical billing software and the full MS Office Suite.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to create and analyze reports and identify deficiencies.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
Nice-to-haves
- Workers' Compensation collection experience (DME, pharmacy, or in-clinic).
- Experience with Cortex Software.
- DME experience.
