About the position

The DME Respiratory Therapist at Hackensack Meridian Health is responsible for delivering and setting up home medical respiratory equipment, ensuring quality care and customer service. This role involves educating patients on the use of respiratory equipment, participating in quality improvement processes, and providing follow-up care. The therapist will also coordinate with delivery personnel and assist with clerical tasks as needed, all while adhering to organizational standards and competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a motor vehicle to deliver and pick up home medical respiratory equipment.
  • Provide a consistent safe level of care to the patient by following all applicable policies and procedures concerning the care and treatment of patients.
  • Assure quality care through ongoing continuous quality improvements and participate in the continuous quality improvement process as necessary.
  • Develop and educate on infection control policies and procedures for respiratory patients.
  • Educate patients on the proper cleaning and disposal of respiratory supplies and equipment provided by the organization.
  • Deliver and set up respiratory equipment to patients, ensuring proper setup and education on equipment usage.
  • Contact patients within 24 hours of oxygen equipment delivery for follow-up visits and document refusals in the EMR system.
  • Educate and review competency for all delivery personnel regarding respiratory-related setups.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation for respiratory-related emergencies and respond in-person if necessary.
  • Assist other staff members with various tasks as requested, ensuring timely completion.
  • Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency, establishing priorities and utilizing downtime effectively.
  • Provide phone support and clerical assistance as needed, ensuring messages are relayed accurately and timely.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree
  • Six (6) Months or More Respiratory Therapy Experience
  • Computer Skills
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification
  • NJ Respiratory Care Practitioner License
  • Valid Driver's License from a USA state.
