About the position

Talascend is currently seeking a DO-254 Hardware Verification Engineer for a contract opportunity in Oro Valley, Arizona. This position requires an experienced engineer who will be responsible for driving the technical strategy and coordination for the DO-254 Validation and Verification for ASICs. The role involves significant interaction with customers and suppliers, ensuring that project oversight is maintained throughout the verification process. The engineer will support the creation of cohesive project plans and will be tasked with developing requirements-based test cases and procedures, executing on-target verification tests on airborne electronic hardware. The engineer will also be responsible for developing automated test tools using LabView and Python, coordinating with hardware and software development teams to design test setups for DO-254 hardware validation and verification. Troubleshooting and debugging of test cases, test procedures, LabView software, embedded software, and test equipment will be a critical part of the role. The engineer will utilize standard lab probing and troubleshooting test equipment, execute automated test scripts, and document test results with clarity and attention to detail. This position relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and may involve leading and directing the work of others, requiring a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical strategy and coordination for the DO-254 Validation and Verification for ASICs.
  • Support/contribute to the creation of cohesive project plans.
  • Create requirements-based test cases, test procedures, and execute on-target verification tests on airborne electronic hardware.
  • Develop automated test tools in LabView/Python.
  • Coordinate with hardware and software development teams to design test setups for DO-254 hardware validation and verification.
  • Assist with the troubleshooting and debugging of test cases, test procedures, LabView software, embedded software, and test equipment.
  • Use standard lab probing and troubleshooting test equipment.
  • Execute automated test scripts and troubleshoot issues.
  • Document test results with clarity and attention to detail.
  • May lead and direct the work of others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering; B.S. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or Computer Engineering or a related degree.
  • 2+ years of Requirements Based Verification per DO-178, DO-254, or ARP4754.
  • Design experience/knowledge with ASIC, FPGA, CPLD technologies.
  • Experience with LabView and Python.
  • Experience with NI PXIe Chassis/Cards.
  • Experience with DAQ hardware like National Instruments or Speed Goat.
  • Experience with automated testers and formal acceptance testing.
  • Experience documenting test environments and test results.
  • Experience with communication bus, i.e. RS232, RS422, CAN, ARINC429, etc.
  • Experience with DO-160, MIL-STD-810, or equivalent qualification testing.
  • Experience in a production environment either aerospace, medical, or industrial.
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Engine Controls Units, Requirement Traceability, Team Center, and Doors.

Nice-to-haves

  • Beneficial to have knowledge of Honeywell Engine products like TFE731 and HTF7K.
