About the position

As a Linux System Administrator at Associates Systems LLC, you will play a crucial role in monitoring and maintaining the health and security posture of mission-critical systems. This position requires you to work closely with developers and system engineers on the Avalanche program, as well as with engineers from other programs that utilize the Avalanche-supported environment. Your primary responsibilities will include researching issues, determining root causes, and implementing effective solutions to system problems. The Avalanche program employs Agile methodology, which means you will be part of a dynamic team that values collaboration and iterative progress. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of both software and hardware components of Linux systems. You will administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6 & 7) systems with minimal support, which includes tasks such as patching, creating RPM packages, performance tuning, networking, user management, and ensuring security compliance. Additionally, you will utilize BASH scripting to automate tasks and improve system efficiency. Your experience with tools such as Jira, Ansible, and Red Hat IPA Server will be essential in managing system configurations and deployments. You will also have in-depth experience with deploying and administering systems in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Commercial Cloud Services (C2S). This includes managing Amazon Linux servers and ensuring that all systems are secure and functioning optimally. The position requires you to support occasional after-hours maintenance, demonstrating your commitment to system reliability and performance. Furthermore, you must possess a current TS/SCI with CI Poly Government Security Clearance, as this is a requirement for the role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 6 years of experience in Linux System Administration.
  • Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6 & 7) systems.
  • Proficiency in BASH scripting.
  • Experience with Jira, Ansible, and Red Hat IPA Server.
  • In-depth experience with AWS/Commercial Cloud Services (C2S).
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ or equivalent IA Level II Certification or higher.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or similar containerized environments.
  • Experience administering Amazon Linux servers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with DNS, sendmail, and LDAP administration.
