About the position

Through the DoD SkillBridge program and in partnership with Hiring Our Heroes, Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) offers internships specifically designed for active duty military service members transitioning to civilian careers. These internships provide up to six months of on-the-job training, allowing participants to gain valuable experience in the civilian workforce while building professional networks that will aid in their transition to full-time employment. As a Supply Chain Manager - Subcontracts, you will lead a dedicated team of subcontracts management specialists and category leads. Your primary responsibility will be to define, develop, and enhance the supply base to ensure it effectively supports SNC programs. You will establish priorities to maintain production schedules, ensuring that program milestones and delivery requirements are consistently met. This role requires close coordination with executive management, program management, and other department managers to achieve the company's material, planning, and production objectives. In addition to overseeing supply chain operations, you will prepare requests for capital, contract equipment, and facilities based on the demands of both the program and the company. You will also spearhead supply chain innovation and efficiency initiatives throughout the Business Area by collaborating with various departments to align with the company's vision. As a supply chain liaison, you will work closely with Operations, planning, and logistics groups to drive innovation by maximizing the capabilities of existing procurement management systems while also exploring new advancements in technology and processes. Your role will involve leading the supply chain discovery process and managing the implementation and deployment of complex projects. You will be responsible for setting, measuring, and communicating meaningful supply chain KPIs (key performance indicators) across the organization to enhance visibility on goals. Furthermore, you will provide leadership to your direct reports, ensuring accountability for your department's performance. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is recognized as a leader in ISR and aviation, serving as a prime integrator for both manned and unmanned aircraft systems. The IAS division offers comprehensive Command, Control, Computers, Communications, and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities, which include design, integration, testing, certification, ground/flight training, and complete logistics support. The team is dedicated to tailoring solutions that meet customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements, consistently exceeding expectations with a proven track record of timely and budget-conscious deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of subcontracts management specialists and category leads.
  • Define, develop, and improve the supply base to support SNC programs.
  • Establish priorities to maintain production schedules and meet program milestones.
  • Coordinate with executive management, program management, and other department managers to achieve material, planning, and production objectives.
  • Prepare capital, contract equipment, and facility requests based on program and company demands.
  • Drive supply chain innovation and efficiency by collaborating with various departments.
  • Maximize capabilities of current procurement management systems and seek new advancements in technology and processes.
  • Lead the supply chain discovery process and manage implementation and deployment for complex projects.
  • Set, measure, and communicate meaningful supply chain KPIs across the organization.
  • Provide leadership to direct reports and ensure accountability for department performance.

Requirements

  • Currently serving as active duty military and eligible for the DoD SkillBridge program.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.
  • Relevant work experience may substitute for required education.
  • Proficient negotiation skills.
  • Supply Chain Management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Typically 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience.
  • Experience with both development and production skills.
  • In-depth working knowledge of commodity, category, and sourcing management.
  • Background in manufacturing timelines and requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand technical requirements.
  • Experience working in Supply Chain supporting government contracts.
  • Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) compliance.
