About the position

The DoIT Network Engineer II position is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of the Department of Information Technology's data backup network infrastructure. This role involves working closely with technical leads and cross-department teams to provide comprehensive technical solutions, manage server virtualization assets, and support cloud services. The engineer will also coordinate the development and maintenance of the enterprise SFTP service platform MoveIT, ensuring the operational integrity of backup policies and disaster recovery processes.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain DoIT's data backup network infrastructure including virtual appliances and servers.
• Manage and operate backup infrastructure technologies such as Commvault and NAS.
• Set up backup policies, backup rotation, and disaster recovery (DR) processes for new or existing customers.
• Coordinate the development and maintenance of the enterprise SFTP service platform MoveIT.
• Provide escalated incident support and production support for cloud services.
• Lead hands-on implementation of virtual and physical appliances in the datacenter.
• Support a large environment of 1500+ servers across multiple datacenters.

Requirements

• Seven years of experience designing and implementing complex data communications or telecommunications networks.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field can substitute for up to four years of experience.
• Additional graduate education can substitute for required experience at the rate of thirty credit hours for each year.
• Military service experience in Database Administration can substitute for required experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Two years of experience administering, troubleshooting, and upgrading backup infrastructure.
• Two years of experience in maintaining and troubleshooting VMWare environment.
