About the position

The Account Technician I position at the East Moline Correctional Center is a full-time role within the Illinois Department of Corrections, focusing on payroll and group insurance functions. The position involves notifying department supervisors of any payroll issues, acting as the Group Insurance Representative, and serving as a backup for other Account Technician I duties in the Business Office. Additionally, the technician will verify salary information for loan applications and wage loss statements for insurance companies, completing relevant request documents as necessary. Other duties may be assigned as required, which will fall within the scope of the responsibilities outlined. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of payroll processes and have experience in a clerical or bookkeeping role. Responsibilities

  • Perform payroll functions at East Moline Correctional Center.
  • Notify department supervisors of payroll issues in accordance with department policies, governmental rules, guidelines, and contractual agreements.
  • Act as the Group Insurance Representative at the facility.
  • Serve as a backup to other Account Technician I duties in the Business Office.
  • Verify salary information for loan applications and wage loss statements for insurance companies.
  • Complete relevant request documents as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college and completion of an approved training course, or three (3) years related clerical bookkeeping experience.
  • At least one (1) year of experience working in a payroll department reviewing and entering payroll information for processing (preferred).
  • At least one (1) year of experience in evaluating and calculating pay adjustments (preferred).
  • At least one (1) year of experience in answering payroll questions (preferred).
  • At least one (1) year of experience with group insurance (preferred).
  • At least one (1) year of experience in reading and applying governmental rules, guidelines, and contractual agreements as related to payroll (preferred).
  • At least one (1) year of experience in using the Microsoft Office suite (preferred).
