About the position

The Network Engineer position in Harrisburg, PA, involves providing technical support for the planning, maintenance, and integration of local and wide area network infrastructure. The role requires hands-on experience in networking and effective communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, configures, and maintains network infrastructure including switches, routers, SD-WAN edge appliances, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Performs network management functions using industry tools to monitor, test, verify, troubleshoot, and resolve network problems.
  • Utilizes Cisco CLI for network management tasks.
  • Assists in executing planned deployments and upgrades, supporting change management efforts.
  • Participates in Service Now trouble ticket resolution and reporting.
  • Assists in the rollout of pilot/new network technology applications to meet operational needs.
  • Ensures trouble tickets or incidents are documented within Service Now and follow established processes.
  • Proactively identifies and troubleshoots complex network issues, communicating with other networking teams as necessary.
  • Evaluates and recommends new and emerging technologies as part of hardware refresh cycles.
  • Prepares technical solutions and recommendations based on current and future network needs.
  • Reviews development of configuration standards and participates in designing complex networks.
  • Ensures networks meet security requirements set forth by OA.
  • Creates and maintains Visio diagrams of the edge network to document network elements.
  • Maintains documentation for network component configurations, setups, installations, and deployments.
  • Supports remote IT staff and agency operations staff with network-related issues.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in networking and technical support.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with network management tools and automation.
  • Familiarity with Cisco CLI.

Nice-to-haves

  • CCNA certificate or equivalent hands-on experience.
