About the position

The HRIS Analyst will support and maintain the HRIS applications and modules for the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC). This role involves performing support, configuration, and data entry tasks in DOCTime and Cardinal HCM, while managing user requests and ensuring data compliance and security.

Responsibilities

  • Support the HRIS Unit with large volume data entry in DOCTime and Cardinal HCM.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HR system users.
  • Manage permissions, access, and personalization for HR system users.
  • Handle mailboxes with customer requests and inquiries for access and other needs.
  • Audit and update HRIS data fields as necessary.
  • Program custom functions and documentation such as automated queries, filters, and reports.
  • Compile or assist with the acquisition of complex data reports for senior executives and HR staff.
  • Ensure system compliance with data security and privacy requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR staff and vendors to identify system improvements and enhancements.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in HRIS providers and technology.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • At least two years of related experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, human resource management, or related field preferred.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical support skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with human resource policies and procedures.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of information systems and at least one commercial HRIS product.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data security and privacy compliance in HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of trends in HRIS technology and vendors.
