About the position

The Account Technician I position at Kewanee Correctional Center involves maintaining employee time and attendance records, preparing payroll reports, and managing filing systems. The role requires a self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills to support the facility's business office operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain facility employee's time and attendance records.
  • Prepare Payroll Time Report.
  • Maintain a complete and accurate filing system.
  • Compile totals of each category of benefit time for various reports.
  • Serve as Property Control Clerk for Kewanee LSRC.
  • Serve as back up to trust fund officer.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge equivalent to completion of two years of college and completion of an approved training course OR three years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
  • Ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least one year of experience in recording and processing timekeeping.
  • At least one year of experience in answering questions related to benefit time and usage.
  • At least one year of experience in maintaining a filing system.
  • At least one year of experience in using excel spreadsheets or similar software.
  • At least one year of experience in compiling reports from excel spreadsheets or similar software.
  • At least one year of experience in auditing timekeeping documents such as sign in sheets, time off notifications, and resolving discrepancies.
  • At least one year of experience in working in an office setting.
  • At least one year of experience in the use of common office equipment such as computers, multi-line phone system, copier, fax, and scanner.
  • At least one year of experience in reading contractual agreements, rules, and guidelines and applying the information to the work being performed.
