About the position

The Account Technician I position at Kewanee Correctional Center involves maintaining employee time and attendance records, preparing payroll reports, and managing filing systems. The role requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to serve as a Property Control Clerk and back up to the trust fund officer. This position is essential for ensuring accurate payroll processing and record-keeping within the facility's business office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain facility employee's time and attendance records.
  • Prepare Payroll Time Report.
  • Maintain a complete and accurate filing system.
  • Compile totals of each category of benefit time for various reports.
  • Serve as Property Control Clerk for Kewanee LSRC.
  • Serve as back up to trust fund officer.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge equivalent to completion of two years of college and completion of an approved training course OR three years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
  • Ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least one year of experience in recording and processing timekeeping.
  • At least one year of experience in answering questions related to benefit time and usage.
  • At least one year of experience in maintaining a filing system.
  • At least one year of experience in using excel spreadsheets or similar software.
  • At least one year of experience in compiling reports from excel spreadsheets or similar software.
  • At least one year of experience in auditing timekeeping documents such as sign in sheets and time off notifications.
  • At least one year of experience in working in an office setting.
  • At least one year of experience in the use of common office equipment such as computers, multi-line phone system, copier, fax, and scanner.
  • At least one year of experience in reading contractual agreements, rules, and guidelines.
