About the position

The Office Administrator II position at the Taylorville Correctional Center involves overseeing the mailroom operations, including processing all incoming and outgoing mail, responding to inquiries from individuals in custody and staff, and monitoring postage usage. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage mailroom procedures effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the distribution of incoming and outgoing institutional mail.
  • Respond to inquiries from individuals in custody and staff regarding mailroom issues and procedures.
  • Proofread mail for appropriate punctuation, grammar, spelling, capitalization, and typographical errors.
  • Receive and distribute privileged and legal correspondence, special letters, and packages.
  • Monitor postage usage and advise supervisor when postage purchases are necessary.
  • Complete logs and reports associated with the mailroom operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of office experience or independent business experience.
  • Ability to keyboard accurately at a minimum of 30 words per minute.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years of supervisory experience in an office setting.
  • Three years of experience applying office procedures and programs.
  • Three years of experience operating manual and automated office equipment.
  • One year of experience maintaining a file system.
  • One year of experience working with spreadsheets and logs for reporting purposes.
