About the position

The Dock Controller plays a crucial role in the Welcome Center or Shipping and Receiving Office, serving as the primary contact for all incoming and outgoing drivers. This position is responsible for managing paperwork, maintaining schedules, and ensuring accuracy in documentation. The Dock Controller also provides essential information to both internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the overall efficiency of the shipping and receiving operations.

Responsibilities

  • Signs driver in and out of the facility; verifying all paperwork
  • Assign dock doors to the inbound and outbound loads
  • Maintain door accuracy and yard report for trailer inventory
  • Process Bills of Lading and associated shipping and receiving documents
  • Reconcile inbounds with packing slips and coordinate drop lot activity
  • Coordinate moves on the yard for the spotter/yard jockey
  • Provide a strong level of customer service to internal and external customers
  • Maintain inbound and outbound schedules
  • Work closely with shift management and leads to accomplish the goals
  • Report errors and/or issues to appropriate member of leadership to ensure accuracy
  • Performs all duties in a safe and timely manner
  • Participates in all training programs provided

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/ GED Equivalent required
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with internal and external customers
  • PC experience with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Previous Shipping and Receiving experience in a warehouse environment
  • Previous AS 400 and / or warehouse management systems (WMS) experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable of RF systems in logistics environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve work-related issues
  • Positive approach in all interactions
  • Ability to multi-task calmly and effectively in a rapidly changing environment
  • Basic math and reading skills to perform job task and complete necessary paperwork
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instruction
  • Active driver's license

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous AS 400 and / or warehouse management systems (WMS) experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable of RF systems in logistics environment
