About the position

As a Dock Coordinator at Newell Brands, you will play a crucial role in supporting the distribution operations to enhance production performance on the shipping dock. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and maximize productivity, quality, and service objectives. You will be tasked with managing the workflow by utilizing the Work in Progress report to visualize work distribution and ensure that all loads are prioritized effectively. This position requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with various team members, including loaders, supervisors, and console operators, to ensure smooth operations. In your daily activities, you will access the PKMS system to monitor the status of various loads, including mega waves and container loads. You will be responsible for providing loaders with a prioritized list of tasks, ensuring that the oldest loads are completed first. Additionally, you will need to investigate any missing products by checking the PKMS system and physically locating the items on the floor. Your role will also involve coordinating with the yard jockey or SMBK driver to manage the movement of trailers and containers in and out of the dock. You will be expected to maintain clear communication with team leads and supervisors regarding the status of loads and any issues that arise. This includes ensuring that trailer paperwork matches the physical contents and signing off on completed loads in the PKMS system. Your analytical skills will be essential in monitoring the flow of operations and strategizing with your team to correct any imbalances. Overall, your contributions will be vital in ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high standards of customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Print the Work in Progress report to visualize work distribution.
  • Access PKMS to monitor the status of various loads.
  • Provide loaders with a prioritized list of tasks based on load age.
  • Investigate missing products by checking PKMS and locating items on the floor.
  • Communicate with console operators regarding trailer availability for commercial loads.
  • Coordinate with yard jockey or SMBK driver for trailer/container movements.
  • Maintain communication with team leads and supervisors about load releases.
  • Ensure trailer paperwork matches physical contents and sign off on completed loads.
  • Monitor and manage the flow of operations to ensure balanced progress across all areas.
  • Provide support to UPS scanner and console operator as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Previous dock killer/dock lead or backup experience preferred.
  • Logistics, warehouse, or other distribution experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills to prioritize loads effectively.
  • Good people skills to work collaboratively with loaders and associates.
  • Open to process improvements and changes while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Must not be in any attendance or disciplinary steps while applying for this position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a logistics or warehouse environment.
  • Leadership experience as a dock lead or similar role.
