About the position
As a Dock Person at Publix, you will play a crucial role in the logistics and operations of our distribution center in Deerfield Beach, FL. Your primary responsibility will be to operate powered industrial trucks and ensure the accurate loading and securing of pallets of outbound products for safe transportation. This position requires a keen attention to detail, as you will be responsible for ensuring that all pallets and totes are accurately accounted for on the correct trailer according to the load sheets for delivery to retail locations. You will also be tasked with loading special orders and credits, merging them with the correct load, and communicating load close information to shipping office associates. In addition to loading and securing products, you will supply pallets or shipping platforms for selectors' use on the dock and communicate incoming and outgoing pallet trailers to the dock coordinator and manager to ensure that supply is sufficient for shipping needs. You will be responsible for moving shipping containers, such as totes and produce baskets, to selecting areas and replenishing them throughout your shift. Monitoring and recording trailer temperatures as outlined in cold chain Standard Operating Procedures is essential to ensure that product temperature is not compromised. You will also operate a baler and a pallet sorter, sorting bulk mail and dropping it at the correct lanes for shipping, while maintaining a clean work and loading area. This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift heavy items, work in various temperature conditions, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. The responsibilities listed are not exhaustive, and additional tasks may be assigned as needed. You will need to be flexible and ready to adapt to the dynamic environment of the distribution center.
Responsibilities

- Moving shipping containers i.e., totes, produce baskets, etc. to selecting areas and replenishing throughout the shift
- Monitoring and recording trailer temperatures as outlined in cold chain Standard Operation Procedures to ensure product temperature is not compromised
- Operating baler
- Sorting bulk mail and dropping at correct lanes for shipping
- Cleaning debris from work/loading area
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and extended periods of time
- Obtain and maintain certification in pallet truck and forklift operations (on or before start date)
- Successfully complete a work attitude survey
- Ability to use powered industrial equipment that require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Ability to lift a minimum of 67 pounds (85 pounds in Boxed Meat/Dairy Warehouse)
- Ability to stack product of varying weights
- Ability to bend, stoop, and twist
- Ability to sit, stand and do repetitive work for long periods of time
- Ability to read, write, identify, and verify numbers
- Ability to work under strict time requirements
