About the position

The DOCM Data Analyst at the University of Pennsylvania's Cancer Center is responsible for managing and analyzing data related to clinical research operations. This role involves ensuring data quality across multiple systems, collaborating with database development teams, and providing reports that require strong quality assurance skills. The analyst will also work with the National Cancer Institute to meet data standards and expectations, making this position crucial for the effective functioning of the Abramson Cancer Center's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Research, interpret, clean, maintain, and analyze data related to clinical research operations.
  • Maintain high quality data across multiple internal and external systems.
  • Interact with database development teams to ensure systems meet data needs.
  • Provide standard and ad hoc reports requiring strong QA/QC skills.
  • Identify trends or patterns resulting in data quality issues and collaborate to correct them.
  • Monitor data performance and develop quality control plans for improvements.
  • Collaborate with IT/IS groups supporting the technology needs of the DOCM.
  • Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedure (MOPs) as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BA/BS in Information Systems/Management, Computer Science, or Life Sciences.
  • At least 5 years of technical data management experience, with 3 years in analytics.
  • Strong understanding of database design, data logic, and data validation.
  • Experience in mining, preparing, and reporting data.
  • Strong analytical and data logic skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Very strong SQL query skills are required.
  • Experience writing technical documents is necessary.

  • Clinical research experience is a strong plus.
