About the position

The Doctoral Capstone Coordinator for Occupational Therapy at the University of Puget Sound is a full-time faculty position responsible for overseeing the capstone experiences of entry-level doctoral students. This role involves planning, coordinating, and implementing processes that support students in successfully completing their capstone projects, as well as teaching preparatory seminars. The coordinator will also engage in graduate student advising, curriculum evaluation, and faculty scholarly work, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and fostering relationships with external agencies to enhance student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement processes for doctoral students' capstone experiences.
  • Teach preparatory seminars for capstone experiences.
  • Guide students through the doctoral capstone process from orientation to completion.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external agencies and alumni to support capstone projects.
  • Communicate relevant legislative and regulatory issues to students and faculty.
  • Create and maintain written agreements between the university and capstone sites.
  • Maintain records of student outcomes and evaluations as required by accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with faculty to develop evaluation tools for capstone projects.
  • Serve as faculty advisor for students during their capstone experience.
  • Update and maintain the doctoral capstone manual for students and mentors.

Requirements

  • Hold or be eligible for a Washington State Occupational Therapist license.
  • Hold a post-professional doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of occupational therapy pedagogy and curriculum design.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience.
  • Postsecondary teaching experience preferred.
  • Identified plan for scholarly pursuits in teaching, discovery, application, or integration.
  • Preferred experience as a Fieldwork or Capstone Educator.
  • Proficiency in MS Office technology, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to organize and maintain a large volume of student and site data.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA/FERPA compliance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with the Subject-Centered Integrative Learning (SCIL-OT) model.
  • Experience in mentoring underrepresented student populations.
