About the position

The Document Control Specialist/CAD Drafter position is a critical role within our organization, primarily focused on managing and maintaining technical documents and drawings related to engineering projects. This position requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of various types of engineering drawings, including P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams), and electrical drawings. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with industry standards. In this role, you will work closely with engineers and project managers to facilitate the flow of information and ensure that all changes to documents are properly recorded and communicated. You will be tasked with checking the accuracy of proposed changes to P&IDs and other technical documents, which requires a thorough understanding of the engineering processes and the ability to recognize discrepancies in documentation. Additionally, the position demands strong computer skills, particularly in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, as well as the ability to learn new software quickly. Effective communication skills are essential, as you will be required to collaborate with various teams and meet tight deadlines. This is an onsite position located in Port Arthur, TX, and is expected to last for over a year, providing a stable work environment with medical benefits and paid time off (PTO).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain technical documents and drawings related to engineering projects.
  • Check the accuracy of proposed changes to P&IDs and other technical documents.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to facilitate the flow of information.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with industry standards.
  • Recognize differences between P&IDs, PFDs, electrical drawings, and equipment data sheets.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with P&IDs and Document Control.
  • Associates degree in drafting or a related field.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work under deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
