About the position

The DOD Financial Analyst (Data Analytics) position is a long-term opportunity based in Arlington, VA, designed for individuals with a strong background in financial management analytics within the Department of Defense (DOD) environment. This hybrid role requires a U.S. citizen with a current secret clearance and a bachelor's degree, although additional relevant experience may substitute for formal education. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team focused on enhancing financial management analytics initiatives, providing critical insights to decision-makers, and ensuring that financial data is accessible and understandable. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for supporting client-facing activities that involve working with financial data and processes. This includes collecting and analyzing organizational financial and budgetary transactions, as well as business processes, to provide actionable insights. The analyst will leverage various data analytics and reporting tools, such as Qlik, SAP-FM, Oracle, Power BI, Tableau, UiPath, SQL, Python, R, and Scala, to deliver meaningful reports and analyses that support stakeholder decision-making. The position demands a detail-oriented approach to work, with an emphasis on delivering high-quality results. The analyst will need to demonstrate expertise in interpreting complex financial data and reports, performing financial statement analysis, and making recommendations based on their findings. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for interacting with a diverse team that includes both government and contractor personnel. The role requires on-site work 2-3 days a week, allowing for a blend of remote and in-person collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a collaborative team supporting financial management analytics initiatives.
  • Support a client-facing role working with financial data and processes.
  • Provide business analytics and strategic insights to make data more widely accessible, understandable, and usable.
  • Collect and analyze organizational financial and budgetary transactions and business processes and provide insight to decision makers for decision support.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Current secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree (additional 4 years of related experience will be considered as a substitute for a bachelor's degree)
  • 5+ years of experience with federal financial analytics and reporting
  • Expertise supporting DOD financial accounting systems and transactional activities for general ledgers and reconciliations
  • Experience working with data analytics reporting tools such as Qlik, SAP-FM, Oracle, Power BI, Tableau, UiPath, SQL, Python, R, Scala, and similar
  • Demonstrated expertise to accurately interpret complex financial data, financial reports, perform financial statement analysis, and provide recommendations
  • Demonstrated reporting and analysis experience to deliver meaningful insights to support stakeholder decision-making
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency working across the MS Office Suite including advanced MS Excel skills
  • Detail-oriented working practices to deliver high-quality results
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to successfully interact with a blended government and contractor team.
