About the position

The DoD SkillBridge Internship for Field Technician/Specialist at Siemens is designed for active-duty US Military Service members. This role focuses on providing hands-on experience in building automation, fire/life safety, and security systems, enabling interns to transition into civilian careers while contributing to sustainable progress through technology. Interns will engage directly with customers to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions, ensuring efficient and safe environments.

Responsibilities

• Meet with customers to diagnose HVAC/Building Automation, Fire/Life Safety, or Integrated Security electronic control system malfunctions.
• Maintain, repair, or install new equipment as needed, including commissioning.
• Consult with internal engineering and management teams for discrepancies in drawings or arising problems.
• Complete service work documentation and assist customers with training instructions for future ease-of-use.
• Recommend system enhancements to provide a value-added partner relationship.

Requirements

• U.S. Military experience as an E4 or above (Navy, Air Force, Army, Marines, Coast Guard, Space Force, National Guard, Reserves).
• High school diploma or state-recognized GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience in demand-side energy services or Certified Energy Manager preferred (Automation specific).
• NICET Level 1 certification preferred (Fire specific).
• Physical Security Professional ASIS certification preferred (Security specific).
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity or experience with engineering HVAC, Building Automation, Fire Alarm, or Security systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and business software systems.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Must be legally authorized for employment in the United States.
• Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Civil Engineering (HVAC & Electrician) or Gas Turbine Electricians.
• Background in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic Systems.
• Experience as Automation/Integration Technicians.
• Knowledge in Nuclear Engineering/Power/Energy & Nuclear Plant Operations.
• Familiarity with Satellite/Radar Systems and Comm Techs.
