If you have a passion for animal care and want to ensure their safety and happiness, then the Kennel Assistant position at Camp Bow Wow Cary is the perfect opportunity for you! This entry-level role is ideal for individuals interested in or currently studying in the veterinary field. We are committed to providing all necessary training to help you succeed in this role. While previous experience with animals is preferred, it is not a requirement. As a Kennel Assistant, you will be responsible for overseeing the well-being of 15-25 dogs in both indoor and outdoor settings. Your duties will include maintaining the cleanliness of the facility, providing basic grooming needs for the dogs, and facilitating group enrichment activities to keep them engaged and happy. You will also have the opportunity to provide one-on-one enrichment for the dogs in our care, ensuring they receive the attention and care they deserve. To qualify for this position, applicants must be at least 18 years old, responsible, reliable, and healthy. You should be able to take direction and work independently, possess reliable transportation, and have no allergies to dogs. Physical requirements include the ability to lift 40 pounds and stand or walk for approximately 6 hours. Additionally, you must be available to work on weekends or holidays, although time off can be requested. All employees are required to complete a certified Pet First Aid and CPR course within the first six months of employment, and we will cover the costs associated with this training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • CPR Certification
  • Ability to handle dogs
  • Experience in animal care
  • Knowledge of animal welfare
  • Understanding of animal husbandry
  • Basic knowledge of animal sciences
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand/walk for approximately 6 hours
