About the position

The DOJ Pathways Internship Program offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience in the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) while pursuing their educational goals. This internship is designed to provide administrative support to the Health Services Department, allowing interns to learn about the mission and functions of the BOP in a federal correctional facility setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to the Health Service Department.
  • Assists Health Services staff in transcribing correspondence, including transfer referrals, meeting minutes, letters, and reports.
  • Engages in work assignments that provide insight into the overall mission and organization of the Bureau of Prisons.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must sign a Pathways Internship Program Participant Agreement.
  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.5 and above with no grade below a 'C'.
  • Maintain at least a half-time course load at the collegiate level.
  • Be accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a qualifying educational institution.
  • Seeking a degree relevant to this position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in administrative support or health services is a plus.
  • Familiarity with federal regulations and procedures.
