About the position

The DOL TAP Facilitator role is a part-time position focused on assisting military service members transitioning to civilian life. The facilitator will conduct job assistance workshops and provide employment counseling to help service members and their families navigate the job market and prepare for civilian employment. This position requires teaching and guiding participants in identifying their career goals and understanding the job application process.

Responsibilities

• Teach and instruct military personnel transitioning to civilian occupations.
• Guide transitioning military service members in identifying goals and recognizing employment or education gaps.
• Provide comprehensive understanding of preparing for civilian employment, job searching, and application processes.
• Assist in preparing for civilian employment and participation in technical programs and schools.
• Conduct small and large group instruction on the job search process.
• Deliver standardized curriculum via in-person or virtual classrooms.
• Complete administrative tasks including travel expense and classroom reports.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3 years of experience as a professional trainer or classroom facilitator.
• Understanding of private and public sector employment processes.
• Knowledgeable of workplace requirements for various jobs.
• Ability to provide standardized training to groups of up to 50 participants.
• Familiarity with MS Windows and Office.
• Effective communication skills with military clients and government representatives.
• Comfortable instructing and speaking in front of a group.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
