About the position
The Domestic Violence Client Advocate at Katy Christian Ministries is responsible for providing crisis intervention and advocacy for victims of domestic violence. This role involves direct support through face-to-face and telephone interactions, assisting clients with various legal and victim support services, and facilitating support groups. The advocate will also participate in community education and maintain accurate client records.
Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention to victims of domestic violence via face-to-face or telephone communication.
- Advocate for domestic violence victims with third-party agencies through direct communication.
- Accompany victims to criminal justice, law enforcement, and medical appointments as needed.
- Assist victims with Crime Victim's Compensation, information and referral services, and legal advocacy.
- Participate in the 24-hour crisis hotline rotation as scheduled.
- Conduct follow-up with clients through calls, visits, and written correspondence.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate weekly support group sessions.
- Provide community education services as directed by grant requirements and the Director.
- Input data into the centralized database system and maintain client files.
- Submit required reporting forms to the Director, including Daily Client Logs and Timesheets.
- Attend staff meetings, educational workshops, and conferences.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of case management experience.
- 2 years of college education, preferably a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
- Bilingual in Spanish is required.
