About The Position

The Family Services Advocate plays a crucial role in providing high-quality child advocacy and activities for youth involved in SafeChoice programs. This part-time position focuses on creating a safe and welcoming environment for children who have experienced trauma, while their parents or guardians receive support services. The advocate works closely with the SafeChoice Family Services Manager and team to ensure the well-being of children and promote social justice principles within the organization.

• Complete and pass a background check.
• Experience working with children, especially from diverse backgrounds.

• Commitment to cultural responsiveness and understanding of social justice issues.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with children from racially and socio-economically diverse families is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide childcare and advocacy for children while parents/guardians receive support services.
• Create a welcoming, safe, and calming environment for children who have experienced trauma.
• Work approximately 24 hours per week, primarily during evenings and specific daytime hours.
• Ensure the safety and welfare of children is prioritized at all times.
• Promote positive behavior in guidance situations and maintain confidentiality.
• Serve as a role model for diversity and inclusion within the program.
• Engage in activities that meet the organization's 1% for Social Change requirement.
• Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants, staff, and volunteers.

Benefits

• Pay range of $23.00 per hour plus a $1.00 bilingual differential.
