About the position

The Donation Attendant position at Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia involves assisting customers with their donated goods, ensuring a positive experience while maintaining the safety and organization of the donation area. The role is part-time and focuses on pre-sorting donations accurately and efficiently, contributing to the overall mission of Goodwill.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient, and courteous service to all customers, internal and external.
• Assist customers with their donations by promptly greeting every donor and assisting them in unloading their vehicle, being very careful not to damage their car.
• Accurately presort donations by category and label donations accordingly.
• Safely, efficiently and accurately load trailers.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safe working area for associates and customers.
• Ensure the security of company assets and report known or suspected security and/or theft problems.
• Know and adhere to department policies and procedures.
• Communicate directly and consistently with supervisor regarding problems with the donation area and customers.
• Set a positive public image by adhering to the dress code and personal hygiene standards set forth by Goodwill.
• Exercise sound judgment when dealing with customers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred, but a combination of education and work experience will be considered.
• No previous experience required.
• No professional certifications are required for this position.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
