About the position

The Donations & Community Engagement Manager at Neighbors Together is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all aspects of in-kind donations, food distribution, and volunteer coordination within the organization. This position ensures the efficient and effective management of the donation center, clothing center, and client choice pantry, while working closely with case managers to meet the needs of clients. The Donations Manager will cultivate community relationships, organize donation drives, and maintain accurate records of all activities related to donations and distribution. This role requires a proactive approach to community engagement and a commitment to the mission of supporting those in need. In this role, the Donations Manager will be responsible for food ordering and inventory management, which includes ordering food from the food bank, managing inventories for all in-kind donations, and maintaining accurate records of food distributed through the client choice pantry. The manager will also be tasked with creating and distributing hygiene kits and non-cook bags weekly for unhoused clients, ensuring that the donation center, clothing center, and client choice pantry are organized, clean, and compliant with relevant standards. Additionally, the manager will oversee walk-in donations and ensure proper storage and distribution of items, utilizing tools like Charity Tracker for monthly assistance reports as needed for community partners. Volunteer coordination is another key responsibility, where the Donations Manager will oversee and manage the volunteer coordinator, ensuring they are well-trained and supported. The manager will work directly with volunteers in the pantry and donation center, fostering a collaborative environment. Client assistance is also a critical component of this role, as the manager will work one-on-one with clients to distribute resources in the clothing closet and client choice pantry, collaborating with case managers to assist clients in accessing necessary services. Community engagement efforts will include planning, coordinating, and overseeing donation drives, working with community members to cultivate new relationships and meet donation needs. The manager will also organize and schedule community partners to provide on-site services during operating hours, maintaining strong communication and partnerships. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the manager will plan and execute program events, which may require occasional evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of in-kind donations, food distribution, and volunteer coordination.
  • Manage the donation center, clothing center, and client choice pantry efficiently and effectively.
  • Order food from the food bank and manage inventories for all in-kind donations.
  • Maintain accurate records of food pounds distributed through the client choice pantry.
  • Create and distribute hygiene kits and non-cook bags weekly for unhoused clients.
  • Ensure the donation center, clothing center, and client choice pantry are organized, clean, and meet all relevant standards.
  • Accept walk-in donations and oversee the proper storage and distribution of items.
  • Utilize Charity Tracker for monthly assistance reports as needed for community partners.
  • Oversee and manage the volunteer coordinator, ensuring they are well-trained and supported.
  • Work with volunteers in the pantry and donation center.

Requirements

  • Degree in nonprofit management, social services, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, community engagement, or a related role within a nonprofit organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with donors, community members, and partners.
  • Experience in planning and executing successful donation campaigns and community events.
  • Proficiency in using Blackbaud software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other digital tools for managing donations and communications.
  • Passion for social change, community building, and sustainability.
