About the position

The Donor Center Technician I plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of plasma donation centers. This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring donor comfort and safety during the donation process. The technician will also handle equipment maintenance, donor eligibility assessments, and product processing, contributing to the overall mission of Octapharma Plasma to create life-saving medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (e.g. FDA approved Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, CLIA, and GMP).
  • Maintain high level of customer service and positive donor experience.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and stock supplies to meet production demands.
  • Monitor donor conditions to ensure comfort, safety, and quality of plasma product.
  • Maintain donor confidentiality and accurate record keeping.
  • Troubleshoot machine alarms/alerts and perform routine quality checks on equipment.
  • Clean blood or plasma spills and dispose of biohazardous waste properly.
  • Ensure donor meets eligibility criteria and perform vitals evaluation.
  • Set up and prepare equipment for plasmapheresis procedures and disconnect donors post-process.
  • Handle and organize plasma product and samples according to procedures and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Three months' experience in clerical or customer service position preferred.
  • Specific certification or licensing based on State requirements.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English required.
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations and instructions required.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations required.
  • Effective communication skills required.
